Etgar Keret is a globally celebrated author and filmmaker of stories, memoirs and films that expose the absurdity of daily life in our modern world. Through his often unexpected and very funny lens, he reminds us that things could and ought to be better.
His most recent collection of short stories, Fly Already (2019), was awarded the 2019 National Jewish Book Award. In 2007, he won the Camera d'Or at Cannes for the film Jellyfish (2007). Adumbrating the strangeness of our shared existence in comical, Kafkaesque and heart-shattering sentences, Keret’s unforgettable stories make us see that things should be otherwise and — in spite of historical and political roadblocks — that although we are fallible, weak and easily tempted, humans can do much to make the world better.
